New for the 2020-2021 School Year

The 2020-2021 school year is going to be one that none of us will forget. As many of you know, regulations related to Covid-19 are going to change many aspects of our school day. While this is true, the staff at SPGS has worked extremely hard to ensure that the learning environment will be as “normal” as possible for all of our students. Even with that being the case, there are some changes that you will notice this year.

  1. The doors to the school building will not open until 7:45 for students. We are asking parents to refrain from dropping their students off prior to 7:45, as we cannot have large groups of students waiting by the doors or in the lobby area.
  2. Parents are being asked to self-certify that their student is not exhibiting any Covid-19 symptoms prior to sending him or her to school. Please keep your student home if he or she has any Covid-19 symptoms. All students will have their temperature taken upon entry to the school building or school bus, and any student with a 100.4 degree temperature or higher will not be allowed into the building or on the bus.
  3. Parents (and other visitors) will not be allowed into the office unless it is absolutely necessary. We will do our best to communicate with all visitors through the glass window. Please be understanding of this, as it is for the safety and well-being of everyone.
  4. All parents who have a student who has a “pre-existing condition” that causes Covid-19 like symptoms are encouraged to provide the school with a Doctor’s note stating the condition and associated symptoms. A note like this will allow us to keep your student in school if those symptoms occur during the school day.
  5. The school supplies that you provide will be for your student only. The use of community supplies is not a practice we will be able to implement this year. Due to this, it is extremely important that your student has all of his or her school supplies.
  6. It is extremely important that parents have pre-arranged plans for getting their student picked up from school in the event that they become sick. Students will not be allowed to be left in the office for more than an hour.
  7. The times of our ECE/Pre-K classes have changed. The morning class will run from 8:00-10:30, and the afternoon class will run from 11:45-2:00.
  8. One of the things we are working on is scheduling times that students can be outside (with their masks off) reading and/or doing some other type of educational activity. With this being said, you may see your student sitting outside. Please do not come onto the school property to talk to them. Again, this is an attempt to keep all of our students as safe as possible.
