South Pekin Illinois was created to be a water, refueling and repair station for the Chicago & North Western Railroad.

This is a picture of the train station.

A round house is a circular building for housing and repairing locomotives. Our round house was destroyed in the tornado of 1938.

Charles Wubben was a man who got supplies by horse & buggy once a week in Pekin. That was before there were any grocery stores in South Pekin.

You might have seen a car like this in 1937.

The South Pekin airport is very small.  Planes don't land very often and sometimes people go skydiving.
