Invent a Monster

The Invent a Monster Project allowed second and third grade students to use their creativity and imagination to invent a monster.

Students used the Kid Pix paint tools to invent a monster. Then, they used Microsoft Works to write a descriptive paragraph about the monster they invented. The descriptions were then e-mailed to a partner classes at The Latin School of Chicago. Students in the partner classes tried to recreate our monsters. At the same time, each student at our school received a monster description via e-mail from the partner class. Our students also tried to recreate another child’s monster by reading the descriptive paragraph. Each school created an Invent A Monster web site to allow students to compare drawings. This project stressed the importance of good descriptive writing skills.
