Major Cities in the Middle Atlantic Region

Most of the people in the Middle Atlantic region live in or near big cities. There are so many cities in a row in this region, that it seems like there is one big city. When this occurs, it is called a megalopolis. The megalopolis of the Atlantic Coastal Plain is the largest megalopolis in the United States. The three major cities in this region are New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. They are all a part of the Middle Atlantic megalopolis.

New York City is the largest city in the United States. More than 8 million people live in New York City. There is another 9 million people living in the suburbs of New York City. There is a lot to do in the city. You can shop, visit museums, see a broadway show, or visit a historical site. It is known as the Big Apple.

Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania. It is known as the birthplace of the nation. There is a lot of history to explore in the city. Visitors can see the Liberty Bell and much more. Philadelphia is now a busy city. It is a manufacturing center and it has one of the busies ports in the region.

Washington D.C. is another major city in the Middle Atlantic region. It is the capital of the United States. Visitors can explore monuments, government buildings, and the White House.
