Many famous people were born in Illinois or have made Illinois their home. The most famous person from Illinois is Abraham Lincoln. He was the 16th president of the United States. He lived in Springfield, Illinois for 17 years. Central Illinois celebrates Abraham Lincoln with memorials, parks, museums and other sites. Illinois is sometimes known as the Land of Lincoln.
